OBABL founder, Yolanda Young will appear with Melody Barnes, CEO of Solutions LLC and former Assistant to the President & Director,
White House Domestic Policy Council at the Washington Area Women’s Foundation’s Leadership Luncheon on October 24th.
Rather than tell you the same statistics about the number of women and girls living in poverty, WAWF is going in a different direction because those numbers aren’t the most important facts they can share with you. What’s most important is simply this: there are women and girls right here in our community who are fighting to survive; what’s important is knowing that as long as they struggle, so, too, does our entire region.
At the luncheon, WAWF will talk about the numbers. But they’ll also share the stories of women and girls whose lives have been transformed thanks to targeted, informed and strategic investments by The Women’s Foundation. Guests will also hear from Yolanda, who exemplifies this year’s luncheon theme: “Stand together. So she can stand on her own.” The event will be emceed by Melody Barnes, a woman whose commitment to ending poverty and ensuring equitable access to resources is evident in her public, private and civic sector work.
