The Power 100 Special Edition: The Law Firm Lions

power-100-logo_blue-black4OBABL is proud to salute this year’s Power 100: The Most Influential Black Lawyers in the U.S.

The Law Firm Lions:

The members of this elite group are no strangers to “best of” lists. Karl Racine, managing partner at Venable LLP was named one of “The 50 Most Influential Minority Leaders in America” by The National Law Journal.  In addition to receiving this same honor, Quarles & Brady Chairman, John Daniels was just awarded the 2012 Spirit of Excellence Award from the American Bar Association Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Legal Profession for his work in promoting a more racially and ethnically diverse legal profession.

They are all keenly aware that it was only a few decades ago that major law firms began hiring black attorneys. Arnold & Porter is credited with being the first Washington DC firm to elect a black partner. When William Cook became A&P’s third black partner, the Power 100 Lion set out to ensure that other minorities had the opportunity to achieve the same. The other individuals who comprise this list share his commitment. They are all as committed to diversity throughout the legal profession as they are to continuing the upward trajectory of their own careers.
