On September 24th, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation will convene its 44th Annual Legislative Conference. The ALC is the the premier conference on legislative and policy issues impacting the African-American community. It is attended by thousands of national and international thought leaders interested in learning about the challenges and opportunities facing Black America and the Diaspora. During the day, ALC attendees attend public policy forums, community education workshops and policy briefings. During the evening, a bevy of buffets, cocktail receptions, and parties entertain guests. At the center of it all are the Congressional members, their staffers, and the professionals whose business is influence. Many of these individuals are black lawyers. For this reason, On Being A Black Lawyer (OBABL) publishes an annual Caucus Issue, which honors CBC members, as well as black attorneys working on Capitol Hill. The issue also features profiles of the 50 most influential black lawyers with influence. To develop this list, we scoured political sources and consulted people in the know. We also accepted nominations. Click to see who made the list.
